Mosha has been in the beauty and fashion industry for over two decades. Starting like more other makeup artists Mosha worked at Barney's in Beverly Hills as an international artist for Shu Uemura later working for such brands as Cle de Peau where she was able to gain access to top celebs like Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez and Cher.
From there Mosha kept in touch with her artistry working for various fashion houses then in LA, CA but found there was a need for agents to represent makeup and hair and stylists from an artist view point. So from there Mosha transitioned and began working her way to the top of the agent world. Learning the ropes and helping her fellow artist negotiate rates, book tours, garner branding deals. Mosha was and is a trusted friend and confident when it comes to her fellow artists but also making sure the artist maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity. Respect in this industry is paramount.
Mosha Katani discovered her calling for makeup artistry at a young age. She loved playing in her mom's or sister's makeup. The whole family liked getting glammed and dressed up for events and parties. It's the Persian-American way!
Mosha was initially introduced to sormeh, a sooty black powder by her mother when she was just around 12 years old.
Growing up in Southern California and having access to both fun in the sun as well as music and movies Mosha was looking for the perfect eyeliners to wear all day and not worry about smearing. It was the 80's afterall and eyeliner was the can't live without makeup product!
In 2004 Mosha created Sormeh, a line of natural, kohl-based eyeliners. And celebs like Angelina Jolie and Naomi Campbell are among Sormeh’s fans to try it.
Mosha spent the early part of her life working at Mac Cosmetics, Christian Dior, Makeup Forever, Origins, Stila Cosmetics and later International artist for Shu Uemura at Barney's Beverly Hills. Meanwhile she freelanced on shoots and music videos. She transitioned to Barney's Beverly Hills where she worked as a national artist for Shu Uemura. She made some of her greatest friends and contacts at Barney's.
While there, Mosha eventually moved on to help launch Cle de Peau. She was the go to artist for new brands launching due to her strong artistry, professionalism and strong sales and business management. During this phase she was able to work with Beauty & Photo Artist Agency to help promote and market the business. She created the agencies first PR department.
Working both jobs, she was able to garner top clients like Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Cher, Paula Abdul and even Jack Nicholson to name a few, who trusted Mosha with beauty and products. And yet she was building her roster of talented makeup, hair and stylists.
Eventually Mosha started her beauty agency (MK Artists) and created a team to help work with her and Smashbox Cosmetics on all LA fashion weeks shows.
In this realm Mosha was able to break new artists into the world of beauty and fashion and also help create branding deals for some. Most of these artists when on to have incredible careers in fashion and beauty or cosmetics.
In 2017, Mosha, her husband and two dogs decided to move to Rome, Italy which is where they live now continuing to have seminars. They have special guests fly in from Los Angeles/NYC to offer top notch classes and events. Something brand new for Rome. Not only are they having Master Makeup Classes but also top Industry Executives to speak about their big break, and what their jobs entail. (From Product Development to Costume Design.)
